About the position

Hornig Companies is seeking a full-time Maintenance Technician to join their team, responsible for responding to work orders, preparing units for new move-ins, and performing preventive maintenance across the Eastern Portfolio in the White Bear Lake, Roseville, and St. Paul areas. The role emphasizes diagnosing and repairing various apartment maintenance issues while upholding the company's commitment to customer service and Fair Housing guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair apartment maintenance issues such as plumbing, electrical, and appliance repairs.
• Prepare units for new move-ins and perform preventive maintenance.
• Communicate with residents regarding repairs in a caring and compassionate manner.
• Repair or replace blinds, closet doors, and perform minor sheetrock repairs.
• Conduct low-risk electrical repairs or replacements of lighting, ceiling fans, and smoke detectors.
• Perform minor caulking of tubs and sinks, and repair building construction issues like broken windows and locks.
• Provide expertise on building repair, focusing on preventing future maintenance concerns.

Requirements

• Mechanical, plumbing, and light electrical aptitude.
• Special Boiler's License or the ability to obtain one within 6 months.
• Ability and willingness to learn.
• Valid Driver's License and meet car insurance requirements.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work a rotating on-call schedule.
• Ability to operate applicable phone applications for work orders and information look-up.
• Ability to stand, lift, and bend for up to 8 hours in various environments.
