The position involves maintaining, troubleshooting, and performing repairs in a heavy industrial environment. This includes working with hydraulics and pneumatics, mobile equipment, electrical/electronic devices and controls, motors, overhead cranes, and large production machines. The role also requires conducting preventive maintenance and performing welding/fabricating tasks. The technician will use hoists, cranes, and hand-powered tools to dismantle devices and remove defective parts, as well as determine changes in dimensional requirements of parts using various measuring instruments. Additionally, the technician is responsible for communicating stocking needs of parts and supplies. Note that building and grounds custodial duties are not performed by the maintenance department.
