The role… Join our team at Urbana, where you'll play a vital role in keeping our operations running smoothly by installing, maintaining, and repairing mechanical and electrical systems, including hydraulic, pneumatic, power transmission, and steam systems. We are seeking a skilled Machinist with strong manual lathe and manual mill experience to support maintenance and equipment repair in our manufacturing facility. This role is critical in machining replacement parts, repairing equipment, and minimizing downtime. This position is ideal for candidates with hands-on experience in manual machining, industrial maintenance, fabrication, and equipment repair. Primary Focus: Manual Machining & Equipment Repair

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Industrial Maintenance or related field, or equivalent experience (e.g., Skilled Trades programs or military experience).
  • 8+ years as an Industrial Electrician or Mechanic with relevant certifications (Journeyman, state/provincial license, or technical degree).
  • Strong hands-on experience with manual machining (manual lathe and mill)
  • Experience in industrial maintenance, machining, or mechanical repair
  • Ability to machine precision parts and perform equipment repairs
  • Proficient with PLC and VFD programming. Experience in laser aligning motor couplings (both offset and angularity).
  • Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, meters, and mechanical service tools.
  • Able to lift up to 100 lbs. Comfortable working in a non-climate-controlled environment.
  • Strong team player with the ability to collaborate, train others, and support operational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Operate manual lathes and manual mills to machine and repair parts
  • Machine shafts, bushings, housings, and custom components
  • Perform precision measurements using micrometers, calipers, and gauges
  • Support equipment repair, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance
  • Repair and maintain pumps, gearboxes, motors, and mechanical systems
  • Perform fabrication and welding (MIG/TIG preferred)
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and mechanical drawings
  • Work closely with Maintenance and Production to resolve equipment issues
  • Install, repair, and maintain industrial machinery including pumps, gearboxes, and mechanical drives.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, replace components, and work with 480V 3-phase systems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and follow blueprints and schematics to ensure safe, reliable equipment operation.
