Essential Job Summary: The Maintenance Technician Level A is the senior technical expert responsible for advanced diagnostics, complex repairs, and technical leadership across all MRF processing equipment. This role sets the standard for safety, workmanship, and reliability while mentoring lower-level technicians.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 5+ years of industrial, fleet, or processing maintenance experience with demonstrated mastery of mechanical systems.
  • Strong welding and fabrication capability.
  • Proven ability to work independently and lead complex repairs.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a senior technician or millwright in recycling, industrial maintenance, manufacturing, processing, aggregate, or material-handling environments.
  • OEM training on balers, conveyors, or processing systems.
  • Leadership or lead-technician experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead diagnosis and repair of complex mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and limited electrical issues.
  • Perform major component rebuilds, overhauls, and precision alignment on critical processing equipment
  • Troubleshoot chronic failures and support root-cause analysis efforts.
  • Serve as the technical lead on shift and mentor Level B and C mechanics.
  • Verify quality of repairs, PM execution, and documentation.
  • Support OEM installations, upgrades, and contractor work.
  • Execute and refine PM tasks; recommend changes to intervals and procedures.
  • Identify and eliminate repeat failures impacting uptime and throughput.
  • Help plan daily plant maintenance workload and allocate jobs according to technician skill level.
  • Assist in specifying parts, evaluating repair options, and supporting warranty recovery efforts.
  • Support audits, safety inspections, and external regulatory reviews as the technical representative for the plant.
