GENERAL DUTIES Supervisory functions: - Performs verbal counseling and disciplinary actions. - Maintains supervisor's notes and helps with employee evaluations. - Schedules work orders and participates in the hiring process. - Evaluates all maintenance requests, sets priorities and processes departmental work assignments. Maintenance and Construction: - Performs corrective and preventative maintenance/repairs of finishes. - Maintains a high craft level. - Manages, coordinates, and schedules vendors to fulfill contractual obligations. - Maintains all mechanic’s supplies, tools and inventory stock. - Monitors and controls budget expenditures. Patient Safety/Fire Life Safety: - Has knowledge of life safety, patient safety and infection prevention measures pertaining to craft trades. - Leads mechanics to maintain compliance with regulatory surveys, building codes and fire/life safety standards. Troubleshoot repairs: - Actively seeks, investigates, identifies, resolves and documents all needed repairs in a timely manner. - Strives for a safe, clean, and damage free environment. - Maintains all departmental and organizational policy paperwork for regulatory compliance. Communication/Teamwork: - Communicates with the requester of work orders to clarify concerns and ensure satisfactory results. - Provides assistance to other tradesmen or vendors. Time Management/Service Training: - Manages time to close work orders per department standards. - Plans activities and mechanic’s workload to limit unnecessary work. - Displays strong understanding of in-service training and applies principles. - Prioritizes, organizes work tasks and works with little supervision. EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS 5 years of experience as a Maintenance Mechanic/Technician or related area. Experience in a clinical/hospital setting preferred. EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS Required: Bachelor's Degree from an approved trade or vocational school with courses in mathematics, blueprint reading and mechanical drawing or have its equivalent in work experience LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS Certification Name: 1st Class Stationary Engineer License EPA certification Required Issuer: Licensure Speciality: Entity: Certification Name: Valid Fire Alarm Technician License with the Parish of New Orleans or equivalent. Required Issuer: Licensure Speciality: Entity: Certification Name: Louisiana State Drivers License Required Issuer: Licensure Speciality: Entity: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Strong knowledge and demonstrated work experience in maintaining and repairing various types of building finishes. Operates hand tools, power tools, equipment and electrical testing equipment requiring manual dexterity. Ability to understand complex oral and written instructions, schematic drawings and layouts. Utilize computer, printer, copier, telephone, calculator, cell phone and 2-way radios. Working knowledge of MS Office software products. Demonstrate sensitivity to and respect for a diverse population. Ability to work alternative/shift work schedules including nights, weekends, holidays and overtime hours. Requirements
