About The Position

This position provides facilities maintenance for Tyson Research Center, the environmental field station of WashU in St. Louis. Duties include general maintenance of site facilities and equipment including roads and fences, buildings and limited utilities, mowing and landscaping, vehicle repair, maintaining field research sites, and assisting researchers with technical and logistical aspects of their research as needed. This position makes decisions that affect the environment, research, teaching, and the safety of users of Tyson resources. Recommends/determines supplies and materials required for jobs, materials to have on hand, or when to seek assistance (may consult first with working supervisor).

Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent high school certification or combination of education and/or experience.
  • Certifications /Professional Licenses : No specific certification/professional license is required for this position.
  • Work Experience: Multiple Trades (8 Years)
  • Skills: Not Applicable
  • Driver's License: A Class E (MO) or Class D (IL) license and a good driving record are required for this position.

  • CPR/First Aid certification.

Responsibilities

  • Operate tractors, backhoe, dump truck and other machinery and tools as needed to grade and maintain roads, culverts, fields and roadsides, mow fields and maintain other resources.
  • Perform facilities and utilities maintenance, diagnostics and repairs, including plumbing, sewer, electrical, locksmithing, carpentry, painting, HVAC systems, roofing and cleaning.
  • Maintain, service and/or repair vehicles and other equipment.
  • Assist with research, field experiments and other projects as needed, including building structures or other needed items.
  • Determine, purchase and pick up necessary materials and supplies.
  • Other duties as needed.
