Benefits & Your Time with Wagner: On-site cafe - breakfast, lunch and grab & go items available.  On-site fitness center with locker rooms Volunteer opportunities Sick & safe time Pay: $22hr Position Objective: The Facilities/Maintenance Technician Intern will provide hands-on support in the maintenance and operation of Wagner’s facilities and physical infrastructure. This internship is designed to give students or early-career professionals practical experience in facilities management, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance while working alongside experienced facilities staff.

Requirements

  • Current Enrollment in a Related Field: Pursuing a degree or certification in Facilities Management, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Basic Technical Skills: A general understanding of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, or HVAC systems is a plus, but not required. Willingness to learn on the job.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to think critically and troubleshoot basic maintenance issues under the guidance of senior technicians.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact with team members and other departments.
  • Attention to Detail: Demonstrates a keen eye for detail, especially when following safety protocols and documenting maintenance activities.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to lift up to [weight limit] and perform physical tasks, including walking, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with Facility Maintenance: Support the facilities team in performing routine maintenance tasks, including repairing plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, lighting, and other general building systems.
  • Troubleshooting & Repairs: Respond to work orders and assist with diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical equipment, ensuring minimal disruption to building operations.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Help execute preventive maintenance schedules for building systems to ensure efficient and safe operation, identifying potential issues before they become larger problems.
  • Building Inspections: Assist in conducting regular building inspections to assess the condition of facilities, equipment, and systems, documenting findings and assisting with necessary actions.
  • Inventory Management: Help maintain and track inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment.
  • Safety and Compliance: Support the team in ensuring the facility complies with safety regulations and internal procedures. Participate in safety audits and assist in maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Team Support: Assist in the setup and breakdown of events, as needed, including moving furniture, equipment, or supplies.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Assist in maintaining logs, records, and reports related to maintenance, repairs, and safety inspections.
