About The Position

At POET, it is our mission to be good stewards of the Earth by converting renewable resources to energy and other valuable goods as effectively as humanly possible. For over thirty years our drive and passion to change the world has enabled us to become the largest producer and marketer of bioethanol and a leader in sustainable products in the world. The Maintenance Intern will work with Maintenance Technicians and Plant Technicians to learn plant systems and sub-systems from a maintenance perspective. Team members in this role will learn the safe and efficient repair, and the preventative maintenance and cleaning on all plant equipment. Pay: $20 per hour

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must be pursuing education in a field related to industrial maintenance or operation and enrolled at an accredited educational institution.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills as well as the ability to adapt to change.
  • You know the basics of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • You’re capable of learning new programs.
  • Team members will be required to adhere to all safety requirements at all times and in all work environments.

Responsibilities

  • Learn plant systems and sub-systems with regard to operation of pump/valve/meter systems.
  • Complete daily checklists with water testing and treatment procedures.
  • Perform preventative maintenance procedures within the Maximo system.
  • Work alongside Maintenance Technicians performing project work orders.
  • Respond to reactive situations if the need arises (from a maintenance perspective).
  • Learn operations of the biorefinery, including the DCS system.
  • Foster a culture of safe behavior and environmental compliance at all times.
  • Maintain a team environment at all times and champion POET in the community.
