A UniFirst Maintenance Technician II is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing industrial equipment and systems, including electrical, mechanical, and plumbing components. This role requires the ability to work from blueprints, use diagnostic tools, assist other technicians, and perform basic welding. The position is crucial for ensuring facility operations and involves tasks such as preventative maintenance, PLC troubleshooting, and safety checks.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one year of experience repairing industrial processing equipment in a production environment is required.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics, and maintenance literature.
  • Proficiency with diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Basic computer and Microsoft Office skills.
  • Experience with Lockout/Tagout procedures is essential.
  • Ability to lift up to 80 lbs
  • Valid driver's license with a safe driving record.
  • Willingness to work overtime, including nights and weekends, is expected.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Knowledgeable in industrial maintenance of facilities and equipment.
  • Must pass UniFirst’s maintenance knowledge assessment to be eligible for employment.
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics is required.
  • Ability to read and understand maintenance literature printed in English required.
  • Basic computer and Microsoft Office skills is required.
  • Lockout / Tagout experience is required
  • Ability to work overtime as needed is required.
  • Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record are required.
  • Ability to lift up to 80 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • High school and/or GED is preferred.
  • Two-year technical degree in an appropriate background is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance, repair, and installation of industrial equipment, machinery, and systems.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment problems using precision instruments, observation, and by following schematics and manuals.
  • Repair and replace defective parts in electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and associated control systems.
  • Perform routine inspections, cleaning, and lubrication of equipment parts, including motor, belts, and bearings.
  • Conduct safety checks, monitor safety equipment like fire alarms, and comply with safety regulations.
  • Perform basic welding to repair equipment and facilities.
  • Test boiler chemical and wastewater pre-treatment systems, record results, and make necessary adjustments.
