PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide multi-skilled maintenance/electrical support focused on customer service, quality, cost and productivity in a TPM and CI environment Promote a safety culture Focused on developing maintenance skills and abilities Demonstrate respectful workplace behavior Continuing job-related education is required Operates Power Industrial Trucks (PIT) ELECTRICAL SKILLS REQUIRED: Understand the hazards of and working on electrical components Understand, troubleshoot and problem solve issues of basic complexity in advanced electrical/mechanical systems (PLC, Drives, Servo, HMI, CNC, etc.) Test and perform preventative maintenance Understand basic electrical circuits and safely requirements Understand basic function of PLC, drives and controls If Applicable (In Electrical License Program) Understand construction and ratings of cables and conductors, factors that determine the size and types of conductors, and the procedures for making proper connections. Ability to select connectors and splice and install conductors Proficient at cutting, bending and installing pipe Use the National Electrical Code to locate information that applies to electrical installations Understand, maintain, and troubleshoot AC and DC motors and drives Use electrical test equipment to measure current voltage and resistance Understand troubleshooting process for basic electrical equipment and electrical systems Basic troubleshoot PLC, drives, HMI Trained to work on energized electrical circuits Trained in electrical arc flash protection code requirements and follow standards per NFPA 70E MECHANICAL SKILLS: Inspect gears and gear units for lubrication problems and bearing failure Understand types and function of gears, the components and characteristics of gearbox setups, problems with gears and gear boxes, and gearbox overhaul. Understand types of shaft misalignment, conditions affecting alignment, measurements and measuring tools for realignment, and methods used for shaft alignment including reverse dial, laser and rim and face Understand types of gaskets and packing, packing glands, and installation of gaskets and packing Understand basic functions of production CNC machining equipment Use necessary hand and power tools to take appropriate action to replace components, make adjustments and recalibrate machinery to resolve issues and restore equipment to operating condition Check and adjust end play, backlash, shaft runout and tooth contact in gearboxes Disassemble and reassemble gearboxes Understand centrifugal and reciprocating compressors Understand the parts, function, maintenance and troubleshooting of typical motors Remove mechanical seals from pumps, examine damaged mechanical seals and install various types of mechanical seals. Understand types and functions, installation, lubrication, maintenance, causes of failure, and replacement of sliding surface and roller contact bearings Operate manual mill, lathe, and surface grinder to produce quality part. Maintain and troubleshoot, disassemble and reassemble hydraulic and pneumatic valves Understand parts, function, maintenance and overhaul of reciprocating and rotary positive displacement pumps, and single and multistage centrifugal pumps Understand pipe sizing and materials of construction, characteristics of pipe joints and fittings, and how to calculate pipe length, measure, cut and thread pipe Measure and analyze vibration in equipment using transducers, vibration meters and vibration analyzers to determine cause of malfunction Read pneumatic system diagrams QUALIFICATION AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS: Multi-skilled technician satisfied by demonstrated technical expertise in maintenance functions 2 year Associate Degree in a related field or equivalent past work experience Strong customer focus Basic PC skills (MS Windows) Must operate/be trained in the use of Power Industrial Trucks (PIT). Continued technical training required each year Basic project management skills (Elec) Working towards a Class A Journeyman license if in the electrical program Mentor/coach/lead other technician PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Some heavy lifting required to replace motors, pumps, extruder screws, etc., at low frequency. Equipment is provided to move / manipulate heavy components Occasionally squat, crawl, reach above shoulders, kneel and balance Requires repetitive action such as simple staring, grasping, firm grasping, and fine manipulating.
