About The Position

Tallahassee State College (TSC), recently recognized as one of the Most Promising Places to Work in Community Colleges for 2025, is excited to announce a full-time opening for the position of Maintenance Technician II – P10667 with the Florida Public Safety Institute (FPSI). This position performs skilled work in the maintenance, alteration and repair of buildings, furnishings, and equipment, including carpentry and masonry, as well as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and electronics systems, to ensure efficient campus operation. Working with contractors on building remodels, new construction projects, and facility improvements, while utilizing an Integrated Workplace Management System (IWMS) for managing work orders, time, charges, asset management, and preventive maintenance scheduling. Traveling to off-campus sites and reporting to work during major storm events as essential personnel are also required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency diploma.
  • Four (4) years of experience in at least three of the following areas: HVAC, electrical, plumbing, electronics, carpentry/masonry, AutoCAD or equivalent Computer Aided Drafting / Drawing Program; or a combination of education and/or experience.

Responsibilities

  • Addressing work orders for electrical, plumbing, and lighting issues.
  • Performing preventive maintenance on AHUs, FCUs, chilled and hot water pumps, and other systems
  • Maintaining emergency equipment such as fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, eyewash stations, and stand-by generators.
  • Inspecting fire alarm panels, backflow preventers, and emergency systems, changing ceiling tiles, evaluating and repairing leaks, and managing basic utility systems.
  • Working with contractors on building remodels, new construction projects, and facility improvements, while utilizing an Integrated Workplace Management System (IWMS) for managing work orders, time, charges, asset management, and preventive maintenance scheduling.
  • Traveling to off-campus sites and reporting to work during major storm events as essential personnel are also required.
