SUMMARY The Maintenance Technician II is responsible for performing equipment repairs, preventative maintenance, and system monitoring across the creamery. This includes troubleshooting and repairing electrical panels, electronic components, and control systems, as well as overseeing utility systems. This is a developmental role designed to build technical skills and knowledge in preparation for advancement to a Maintenance Technician III position. This is a first shift position, working Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm, with flexible starting/ending times. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. · Performs all core responsibilities of Maintenance Technician I, along with the additional advanced duties outlined below: · Maintains, troubleshoots, repairs and completes all preventative maintenance of all mechanical systems, pumps, process and sanitary piping, electrical, electronic and all related components. · Completes and communicates work orders to plant and maintenance personnel and completes all required documentation. · Maintains, adjusts, and performs troubleshooting of electronic components of PLC systems, AC & DC motor control systems, and electronic instrumentation. · Performs operation of refrigeration equipment which consists of startup, shutdown and maintenance. · Troubleshoots, repairs and/or replaces electronic components such as RTD’s, level sensors, controllers, AC & DC Motor’s, switches, fuses, etc. · Fabricates repair parts or components using machine shop equipment such as lathes, mills, grinders, and drill presses. Reads and interprets technical drawings or specifications to produce accurate parts, ensuring compatibility with existing systems and adherence to food safety and operational standards. · Performs welding repairs on production equipment and structural components, including stainless steel and other food-grade materials. Uses MIG, TIG, and arc welding techniques to restore or reinforce machinery, piping, and support structures, ensuring compliance with safety and sanitary standards. · Maintains equipment, parts and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed parts and supplies and placing and expediting orders. · Utilizes technical support resources such as equipment manuals, schematics, troubleshooting guides, and manufacturer documentation to diagnose issues, perform repairs, and ensure proper maintenance procedures are followed. · Actively participates in the plant safety committee and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives. · Maintains a clean and organized maintenance shop and ensure cleanliness during work performed in food processing areas. · Adheres to all company safety policies, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and food safety protocols. · Immediately reports any food safety or quality concerns to management or designated personnel authorized to take corrective action. DIRECT REPORTS This position is not responsible for leading team members but will be a resource for Maintenance Technician I’s. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE · High school diploma or equivalency is required (GED). · 2-3 years of experience in a maintenance related field, or 2-3 years of experience in a food plant as a general operator on multiple lines of manufacturing and currently enrolled in a maintenance or trade related technical school program. · Knowledge of maintenance software including: WonderWare, Ladder Logic, Allen Bradley software. CERTIFICATIONS · Driver’s license is required for using company vehicles. Must maintain a clean driving record to remain insurable under the company’s insurance policy. · Refrigeration license may be required after 2 years. · Certified to operate forklifts (will train and certify on the job). ADDITIONAL INFORMATION WORK LOCATION: This is an onsite position located at our Crescent City Creamery located in Crescent City, CA. TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS Occasional travel may be required to meet the needs of the business (estimate 10%). Off-shift work may be required as needs arise.
