About The Position

The Maintenance Technician II is responsible for performing skilled electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and control-related maintenance to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of roasting and packaging equipment. This role places a strong emphasis on electrical troubleshooting, control systems, and safe work practices in a regulated food manufacturing environment. The technician supports preventive maintenance programs, responds to equipment failures, assists with continuous improvement projects, and actively supports food safety, quality, and regulatory compliance (GMP, SQF, Organic). This position is expected to develop increasing independence over the first 3–6 months as facility-specific equipment knowledge is gained. Prior experience with identical equipment is not required; strong troubleshooting fundamentals and a willingness to learn are essential.

Requirements

  • 2–5 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment, or equivalent hands-on technical experience.
  • Demonstrated electrical troubleshooting fundamentals in an industrial setting.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and manuals.
  • Working knowledge of PLC-controlled equipment (troubleshooting only; no programming required).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Forklift certification or ability to become certified.
  • Solid computer skills for documentation and communication.
  • Effective communication, time management, and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in food or beverage manufacturing.
  • Two-year degree or technical certification in industrial maintenance, electrical systems, or related field.
  • Experience with VFFS or similar packaging equipment.
  • Familiarity with GMP, FSMA, SQF, or regulated manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

  • Perform corrective and preventive maintenance on packaging, roasting, grinding, and material handling equipment.
  • Support packaging line setup, adjustments, and changeovers to meet production and quality requirements.
  • Execute mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic repairs as required.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and PM documentation.
  • Troubleshoot and repair industrial electrical systems, including: Motors, starters, relays, sensors, solenoids, and VFDs & 24VDC and 120/240/480VAC control circuits
  • Diagnose electrical faults using meters, schematics, and control drawings.
  • Perform PLC troubleshooting at the I/O and logic-monitoring level (no programming required)
  • Assist in identifying causes of recurring electrical or control issues and support corrective actions.
  • Execute scheduled preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Identify wear trends and potential failure points to improve equipment reliability and uptime.
  • Contribute to maintenance KPIs including uptime, PM compliance, safety, and response time.
  • Follow and enforce LOTO, PPE, and electrical safety procedures at all times.
  • Support compliance with GMP, SQF, and food safety programs.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and audit-ready maintenance work areas.
  • Complete required safety, sanitation, and compliance documentation accurately and on time.
  • Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and electrical improvements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to reliability, safety, and efficiency.
  • Assist with parts identification, sourcing, and inventory management for electrical and mechanical components.
