The City of Roanoke is seeking a morning shift Streetsweeper to serve in the Stormwater Division of Public Works. This position primarily operates a street sweeper and/or dump truck for the first half of the shift, including automatic and manual transmission, during night operation hours. The second half of the shift would be assisting with the CBD (Central Business District) by performing semi-skilled work and manual tasks such as shoveling, raking, clearing trash/debris and sweeping involved with street maintenance, mainly in downtown: Monday-Friday, 2:00am-10:30am. May operate backhoe, heavy front-end loader and/or skid steer in leveling ground surfaces and street/construction repair. Services and makes minor repairs and adjustments on equipment. Maintains accurate log sheets, checklists, and pre-trip sheets. Class B CDL required. Ability to obtain tanker (N) endorsement is required within 12 months of hire. Standby work will include working some nights, holidays and weekends as needed. Operates heavy and light equipment in snow removal and assists with special events, and other emergency tasks, including some nights and weekends, as needed. Performs other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
