About The Position

Summary: Provides general direction and leadership to employees relating to the repair and maintenance of facilities and grounds Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Team Leadership: Lead and supervise a team of maintenance technicians, assign tasks, provide guidance, and ensure work is completed efficiently and safely. Skilled Maintenance: Perform skilled maintenance and repair work in various trades, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry and painting. Troubleshooting and repair: Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and other facility issues. Assist other technicians with complex or labor-intensive jobs. Preventive Maintenance: Conduct preventive maintenance on equipment, machinery, and building systems to ensure optimal performance and longevity. Inspection and Assessment: Inspect buildings and equipment to identify maintenance needs, report on the condition of assets and recommend repairs or replacements. Inventory and supply management: Order, stock and manage maintenance supplies and parts. Administrative tasks: Complete work orders, maintain records, and possibly assist with scheduling and budget tracking. Safety Compliance: Ensure all maintenance activities adhere to safety standards, company policies and proper work methods. Tool and Equipment Management: Oversee the use, care, and maintenance of all tools and equipment. Coordinate district policies and procedures with city, state and federal regulations Work independently with limited supervision and as part of a team Plan and implement appropriate maintenance repairs and upgrades Solve problems and make decisions while being adaptable and flexible in order to meet the needs of differing circumstances. Safely operate a snorkel lift, scissor lift, power tools, chain saw, hand tools, district vehicles, and other various rental tools and equipment related to construction and maintenance. Operate district vehicles and drive to various locations or work sites in all types of weather conditions while towing a trailer (various sizes). Understand and follow written and verbal instructions and directions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications are often a plus
  • Five (5) years in a progressively responsible position performing building maintenance or construction.
  • Journey-level trades experience is required.
  • Successful completion of a certified course of study of at least two (2) years in a related field may be substituted for two (2) of the five (5) years of required experience.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Experience in multiple skilled trades (e.g., electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry)
  • Leadership and team management skills
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and schematics
  • Proficiency with various hand and power tools
  • Problem-solving and diagnostic skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Basic computer skills for work order systems and inventory
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations
  • Ability to read and understand English instructions
  • Must possess basic math skills, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers and fractions.
