About The Position

Participates in the maintenance and repair of all United Indian Health Services (UIHS) structures and all maintenance of grounds as needed. May also serve as Security during night or weekend shifts or for special events. Maintains the 20 acre restoration area including wetlands, uplands, meadows, and native plant nursery.

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and two (2) years related experience and/or training.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one year certificate from college or technical school; and four (4) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; and six (6) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Basic personal computer skills including electronic mail, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the restoration and management of the 20-acre restoration area and 20-acre clinic landscaping to include remedial planting, mowing, mulching, weeding, burning, watering, trail maintenance, propagation, monitoring, etc.
  • Assist in Ku' wah-dah-wilth Workshops and tours.
  • Assist in implementing special projects (such as Wellness Garden upgrade, Traditional Foods Project, clinic landscape, etc.)
  • Assist in preparation and implementation of arts and culture programs/events
  • Transport small equipment, tools, or supplies between departments as directed.
  • Be able to travel and work at satellite sites.
  • Be able to properly use hand and power tools for construction and landscaping.
  • Sets up equipment as needed for UIHS functions as directed.
  • Assist at direction by supervisor with the construction and remodeling of clinic areas.
  • Transport trash and waste to disposal area and recycling station.
  • Provide assistance to housekeeping during daily operations.
  • Provides/Delivers supplies as needed to facilities and departments.
  • Assist Maintenance Workers II and III with all clinic maintenance tasks.
  • Attends department meetings and other meetings as assigned.
  • Performs and adheres to all work in accordance with accreditation and compliance standards/guidelines in a safe manner.
  • Maintains a professional, organized, clean working environment by following organizational policies, guidelines, and safety standards.
  • Assist in development of departmental policy, procedures, and quality improvement activities with in the clinic as directed.
  • Perform security patrols by company vehicle and/or on foot.
  • Protect property from theft, trespassing, fire, and accidents.
  • Observe and report any unlawful activity to the proper authorities immediately, then follow up with UIHS reporting forms.
  • Be available to assist staff to parking areas when late at night.
  • Aware of and assists with evening events or classes.
  • Must be willing to learn more about the American Indian culture and attend at least one Cultural Presentation/Training per year.
  • Must be willing to work with American Indian/Alaska Native people and demonstrate cultural awareness and humility
  • Must be willing to deliver services in a culturally responsive manner.
  • Adheres to accreditation and compliance standards/guideline
  • Other duties may be assigned.
  • Performs duties outlined under Level I.
  • Assist with the construction of cabinets and tables.
  • Assist with the construction and remodeling of clinic area at all sites.
  • Assist with Maintenance Worker III as needed/directed.
  • May also perform duties outlined under Levels I and II.
  • Perform duties outlined under maintenance as assigned on facilities associated equipment.
  • The equipment includes but is not limited to:
  • Electrical equipment and electrical distribution systems including switches, outlets, electrical drives, and controls.
  • Mechanical equipment
  • HVAC air distribution equipment
  • Plumbing systems, including the irrigation systems associated with the facilities.
  • Emergency Power Generation and associated equipment.
  • Knowledge in landscape, pond & stream maintenance and water treatment.
  • Computer based maintenance program.
  • Repair/replace facilities and grounds associated equipment as needed. This would include but not be limited to:
  • Lighting systems
  • Emergency exit signs
  • Emergency exit lights
  • Electrical systems
  • Plumbing systems
  • Septic pumping system
  • Mechanical systems
  • HVAC systems
  • Constructs and remodels clinic areas including painting and texturing of surfaces.
  • Most possess basic plumbing and electrical skills.
  • Constructs, repairs, furnish, and install clinical furniture including casework, desks, and cabinets.
  • Performs ground maintenance.
  • Operates Building Management System.
  • Must have knowledge of preventative maintenance routines for clinic equipment and building maintenance.
  • Must be able to travel to additional UIHS facilities in order to perform maintenance.
  • Must be able to prioritize tasks.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Be able to line out and supervise small outside crew or Level I and ll workers, as needed.
  • Fill in for Facility Supervisor when not available.
