Transylvania University invites applications for a Maintenance Technician II (Electrical Focus). Essential Duties : Performs journeyman level troubleshooting and repair of building distribution systems to include Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, Plumbing systems and piping, heat exchangers, air handlers, and pneumatic and digital controls, performs required repairs through replacement of inoperative parts or adjustments of controls and blowers, and providing an estimate of repair and/or replacement of costs. Performs HVAC, Electrical and Plumbing system inspections and manufacturer-recommended preventive maintenance. Has knowledge of, can interpret and apply state and local electric and plumbing code to day to day operations Performs Plumbing system inspections and manufacturer-recommended preventive maintenance. Repairs and rebuilds plumbing fixtures to include faucets, commodes, sinks and showers. Makes recommendations and installs new plumbing fixtures to include faucets, commodes, sinks, urinals, water fountains, bottle filling stations and irrigation systems. Understands plumbing system infrastructure design and construction. Ability to read and understand plumbing, piping, electrical wiring diagrams, blueprints and specifications. Performs major component replacement work in conjunction with Maintenance Mechanic personnel on pumps, valves and other plumbing and mechanical fittings. Performs seasonal overhauls on plumbing, HVAC and mechanical systems. Contributes to efficient and effective HVAC operations by recommending the quantity and type of materials that should be ordered and stocked for use in heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems. Works with contracted heating, ventilation, and air conditioning services to ensure specified results thus minimizing future operational problems by observing (spot checking) the work performed and advising management when contract services fail to meet specifications. Helps to assure that HVAC systems operate in the intended manner to use energy efficiently by programming system parameters to meet objectives, adjusting set points, monitoring the network, and calibrating instrumentation, metering valves, dampers, actuators, controllers as required. Additional skills required for electrical focus: Installation: Install wiring, conduits, outlets, fixtures, switches, and control systems for new constructions or renovations. Maintenance: Perform general upkeep and preventive maintenance on electrical systems and components. Repair & Troubleshooting: Diagnose and fix electrical problems using testing equipment, repairing or replacing faulty wiring, equipment, or fixtures. Safety & Code Compliance: Adhere strictly to the National Electrical Code (NEC), state, and local building codes, and safety procedures. System Design: Read and interpret blueprints, technical diagrams, and schematics to plan electrical layouts. Inspection: Inspect electrical components like transformers, circuit breakers, and generators to ensure proper function. Documentation: Maintain records of repairs, modifications, and materials. Secondary Duties: Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade. Knowledgeable of rules and regulations of refrigerant recovery. Contributes to the overall success of the Mechanical Maintenance Department by performing other essential duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Responsibilities
