About The Position
The purpose of this job is to perform skilled construction work on new and existing buildings and features within the park system such as trails, walkways, shelters, playgrounds, and other structures. The Maintenance Technician II - Construction will work with the Construction Division with the primary focus of work related to the new construction of Capital Improvement Projects for the City of Columbia Parks & Recreation Department. Applicants should have experience with forming, pouring, and finishing concrete for footings, pads, approaches, columns, and sidewalks. The ideal candidate should have experience operating a wide variety of light, medium, and heavy equipment associated with the construction trades. Candidate should have experience reading shop drawings and installing prefabricated metal structures such as shelters and buildings. This position is required to frequently pull and back single and tandem trailers used to haul materials, equipment, tools, and supplies to and from locations.
