About The Position

The Maintenance Technician I is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and replacing machine components to ensure continuous, efficient production operations. This role supports equipment reliability, safety compliance, and quality standards while fostering teamwork and knowledge sharing within the maintenance department.

Requirements

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with working knowledge of electrical, electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting and problem-solving for complex equipment issues.
  • Skilled in operating and understanding all machinery and equipment within the facility.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Familiarity with safety protocols, including Lock Out/Tag Out procedures.
  • Ability to mentor and transfer technical knowledge to others.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must own a complete set of hand tools and a toolbox suitable for the work environment.
  • Certification on all Powered Industrial Equipment (PIE) and Lock Out/Tag Out will be required upon hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of one year of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure workplace safety by verifying that all electrical and mechanical guards and safety devices are functional and properly installed.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair manufacturing equipment, including plastic blow molding machines and related ancillary systems.
  • Perform machine processing adjustments to maintain optimal efficiency and product quality.
  • Conduct routine preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Utilize a variety of tools, including hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments, and electrical/electronic testing devices.
  • Interpret and apply electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics and blueprints to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Support quality assurance by completing required inspections and testing procedures.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members to meet production and maintenance goals.
  • Mentor and assist in the development of apprentices, sharing mechanical knowledge and best practices.
  • Engage fully in the CMMS asset reliability program and contribute to its ongoing improvement.
  • Participate actively in Scepter’s Safety Programs and report all near misses and first aid incidents.
  • Maintain and promote 6S principles throughout the facility.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
