About The Position

The Maintenance Technician I performs ordinary, labor-intensive tasks commonly related to water and sewer system construction and maintenance. Also assists operator in any way necessary to complete the job. Must be able to work on-call duty. Must be available to respond at any hour during an emergency when requested.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Must possess a valid Class "C" Driver's License or higher.
Must possess a valid Texas Class "B" Commercial Driver's License or be able to obtain valid Class B Commercial Driver's permit within 90 days of hire date and obtain Texas Class "B" Commercial Driver's License within one year from hire date.
Must be able to obtain a Class I sewer collection license and a Class D water license within one year of hire date.
Ability to understand and abide by City of Conroe and Departmental policies and procedures.
Must be able to work on-call duty and respond at any hour during an emergency when requested.
Must be able to work as many hours as required to complete jobs.
Must be able to attend after hours classes to renew or obtain required certifications/licenses when necessary.
Ability to work as many hours needed to get the work assigned completed.
Must be able to lift weights up to 100 pounds.
Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
Ability to use all tools to accomplish the job in an efficient manner.
Ability to adapt to new technology, new methods and changing conditions.
Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, or sit for long periods of time.
Must be capable of reading, writing and communicating in English.
