About The Position

Maintenance Technician I Monday - Friday (7am-330pm) Starting at $22.29 hourly Must provide your own basic hand tools We’re hiring a Maintenance Technician for our retirement community! Royal Oak Road Sun City, AZ 85351 Cross streets are 99th and Grand Avenue Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Senior Facilities Manager, performs routine and preventive maintenance and repair procedures on buildings and mechanical equipment. Brief Overview of Major Duties: Perform preventative maintenance on building and mechanical equipment on a scheduled and as needed basis. This includes but is not limited to, inspecting and changing drive belts, replacing faucets, AC filters, repairing or replacing toilets, garbage disposals, drain and waste pipes. Unclog drains with a hand held auger or mechanical snake. Inspecting and conducting electrical/mechanical servicing of Penner Spa equipment weekly. Troubleshoot basic electrical wiring, fixtures, switches, outlets, able to read and use a voltage meter. Major repairs are performed under the supervision of a licensed maintenance worker. Replace and repairs doors, door locks, and closets. Completes daily, weekly, and monthly checklists on building equipment maintenance procedures and maintains records of scheduled maintenance procedures. Responds to emergency maintenance requests. Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices. Attends all meetings as required and assists other departments as needed. Required to operate/drive a golf cart for the purpose of transporting supplies around campus as needed. This may also include transporting employees, residents and/or guests when needed. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must provide your own basic hand tools
  • Has knowledge of the standard practices of building and equipment maintenance.
  • Has ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Has skill in the use and care of equipment and tools.
  • Is organized, able to multi-task, think creatively and adapt to different situations.
  • Must be able to complete training on computer and/or other devices.
  • Maintain competency in the position and knowledge of trade/industry advances and new technologies.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate in English with all levels of staff, residents, and guests.
  • Preferably has a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • At least one year of experience in building and mechanical equipment maintenance and repair or an HVAC, electrical, or plumbing certification from an accredited institution.
  • Has previous work experience in the use of hand and power tools.
  • Has current and valid Fingerprint clearance card or apply for one within 20 days of hire.
  • Has current, valid driver’s license. Driving record must meet the criteria set forth by Royal Oaks’ insurance carrier.
  • If applicable, has a Certificate of Completion for memory care services training or obtains one within 30 days of hire.
  • Is able to carry/lift/push/pull up to 75 pounds.
  • May need to operate a fire extinguisher.
  • Is able to assist in evacuation procedures.
