The Maintenance Technician performs skilled work related to the installation, operation, maintenance, modification, service and repair of mechanical, electrical, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing, and structural systems. They monitor machine performance, perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot problems, and make necessary adjustments. Understands and follows all safety rules and precautions necessary for working with hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical apparatus Deals with complex factors and makes decisions based on conclusions and findings Installs and repairs various electrical equipment, including generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units and conduit systems. Works with blueprints, drawings, layouts, verbal instructions and other specifications Uses different welding equipment (arc, acetylene, brazing, flame cutting) For layout and fitting, including making jigs and fixtures Utilizes electricians’ hand tools and measuring/ testing equipment Diagnoses and corrects trouble in electrical systems or equipment, applying standard computations related to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment Performs visual and mechanical inspections to maintain machinery to, ensure the production of finished quality products according to order specifications Follows preventive maintenance program as established by the company and conducts regular equipment inspections taking preventive action when necessary Performs minor and major repairs on buildings Notifies management concerning need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating and ventilating equipment Provides on-the-job direction to new maintenance mechanics and others assisting in maintenance work Contributes to continuous improvement efforts in work area May be assigned additional projects or duties as designated by Team Leader
