About The Position
The City of Roanoke is seeking a Maintenance Technician I to perform work on the Streets Maintenance Crew. The successful candidate will engage in skilled work on or around the operation of heavy motorized equipment involved with roadway maintenance and repairs. Equipment used includes asphalt distributor, dump truck, backhoe, heavy front-end loader, large motor grader and various hand tools to complete assigned tasks. Also makes repairs to alleys, road shoulders, medians, curbs and sidewalks. Services and makes minor repairs and adjustments on equipment. May be asked to operate independently or supervise a street maintenance crew involving street construction repair when the supervisor is absent. Operates heavy and light equipment in snow removal and assists with emergency tasks, including some nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. Maintain accurate log sheets, checklists and pre-trip sheets.
