About The Position

The Maintenance Technician I position at FedEx involves supporting industrial maintenance for material handling systems. The role focuses on preventative and predictive maintenance, as well as repairs of mechanical power transmission systems. The technician will work under supervision to develop skills in electrical systems, PLC controls, and welding/fabrication, while ensuring adherence to safety standards and participating in safety training.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Demonstrated basic mechanical aptitude through background or hobbies in agriculture, automotive, or other technical areas.
• Two years of FedEx Operations Sortation equipment knowledge or enrollment in a certificate/degree program for Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, or related discipline may be considered.
• Related military technical experience and electrical or mechanical trade experience will be considered.

Nice To Haves

• Basic electrical and mechanical skills preferred.
• Ability to solve basic mechanical or electrical problems.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Software skills, including Microsoft Office suite and other web-based applications.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic preventative and predictive maintenance and repair of material handling systems, primarily in mechanical power transmission.
• Diagnose simple mechanical power transmission issues visually or audibly at the single component level.
• Adhere to safety standards and promote a safe work environment by attending safety meetings and addressing safety concerns.
• Assist in preventative and corrective maintenance tasks under supervision.
• Participate in smaller scope projects as needed.
• Work a flexible schedule including all days and shifts as required by business needs.
