About The Position

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for various day-to-day service needs regarding the physical condition, appearance, and operational efficiency of the property, ensuring a safe and attractive living environment for residents, exceptional quality and service, and sustained resident satisfaction. The role involves performing routine, preventive, scheduled, and emergency maintenance repairs, as well as general upkeep tasks throughout the community and on all equipment. The technician will also contribute to marketing efforts and resident satisfaction by providing excellent customer service and ensuring that all areas of concern are addressed promptly and professionally.

Requirements

  • Minimum one year as a maintenance technician or other applicable experience.
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Skills in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, equipment repair, and painting.
  • EPA Section 608 Technician Certification- Type II or Universal Certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment).
  • Proficiency in the use of hand and power tools.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong organizational skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read and understand policies and procedures in English.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a strong customer service orientation.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Basic computer keyboarding and navigational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate the HEROES principles of being Helpful, Engaged, Responsive, Outstanding, Excellent, and Successful in all activities and interactions.
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and high-quality completion of resident service requests.
  • Perform a variety of routine, preventive, scheduled, and emergency maintenance repairs.
  • Maintain appropriate logs and records of maintenance activities.
  • Participate in apartment turnovers, including repairs, renovations, painting, and cleaning of vacant apartments.
  • Ensure cleanliness and safety of all areas, including dumpster areas.
  • Monitor community and grounds for proper maintenance and report any issues to management.
  • Maintain landscaping and perform snow removal as needed.
  • Provide guidance and training to Maintenance Apprentices & Porters.
  • Comply with policies and procedures and respond to emergencies in a timely manner.
  • Attend all required in-service training sessions.
  • Support other communities as assigned by management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
