About The Position

Park Place of Elmhurst, a nonprofit five-star senior living community, is located across from Endeavor Health Elmhurst Hospital. Our 16-acre arboretum-designated campus offers 180+ customizable 1-, 2-, and 3-bedroom independent living apartments and a full continuum of care, including assisted living, short-term rehabilitation, skilled nursing, and memory support. We are seeking a full-time maintenance technician to support carrying out our mission to deliver quality care to our residents!

Requirements

  • Entry-level position.
  • High School diploma required.
  • Experience with diagnosing, repairing electronic ignition systems for heaters, furnaces, and hot water heaters is a plus.
  • Must be mature and career-minded.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the grounds, facility, and equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Ensure that maintenance schedules are followed as outlined for respective shift or area.
  • Coordinate daily maintenance services with nursing services when performing routine assignments in resident living areas.
  • Ensure that the facility and its equipment are properly maintained for resident comfort and convenience.
  • Follow established safety precautions when performing tasks and when using equipment and supplies.
  • Perform routine maintenance on grounds, parking areas, driveways, etc.
  • Replace burned out light bulbs, including exit lights, overhead lights, fluorescent lights, and room call lights.
  • Regulate heating and ventilation systems to provide appropriate temperatures and ensure economical usage of energy.
  • Assist in fire pump and generator testing, wheelchair, bed, and nurse call preventative maintenance as required.
  • Perform routine carpentry repairs such as kitchen cabinets, window screens or glass, door locks, and plaster or drywall repair.
  • Perform plumbing maintenance including replacement or repair of leaks in drains, faucets, or floats.
  • Service heating and cooling units/systems as specified by the manufacturer.
  • Ensure that work/assignment areas are clean and that equipment, tools, supplies, etc., are properly stored.
  • Operate a variety of equipment and machines including saws, drills, drill presses, and other hand and power tools.
  • Inspect buildings and other structures to determine functional systems and detect malfunctions and needed repair.
