About The Position

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting various types of electrical and mechanical equipment in compliance with manufacturer specifications, safety standards, and facility policies. This role ensures operational efficiency and safety of equipment and supports hospital emergency preparedness and environmental care efforts. The technician also plays a key role in maintaining facility infrastructure, performing general maintenance tasks, and participating actively in committee and training initiatives.

Requirements

  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Required: Current Journeyman Electrician License with TDLR OR
  • Current Apprentice License with eligibility to test for Journeyman within 90 days of hire and must obtain Journeyman License within 6 months.

Responsibilities

  • Install various types of equipment per manufacturer specifications.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical equipment using manuals, diagrams, sketches, and test equipment.
  • Observe devices during operation to determine causes of malfunction.
  • Replace or repair defective parts using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Adjust or install functional and structural components of machinery and devices.
  • Lubricate, clean, and maintain equipment and parts.
  • Perform testing of devices post-installation or repair to ensure functionality.
  • Utilize electrical meters, diagnostic tools, and precision measuring instruments.
  • Maintain high accuracy in adjustments, calibrations, and alignments.
  • Apply numerical skills to calculate electrical and mechanical data for equipment installation and repair.
  • Document all work performed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Actively participate on the Environment of Care (EOC) Committee and contribute reports and analysis.
  • Assist in planning, conducting, and documenting disaster preparedness drills.
  • Manage inventory by receiving and ordering supplies as needed.
  • Demonstrate safe use of equipment and report malfunctions.
  • Inspect emergency equipment and train staff on proper usage.
  • Dispose of hazardous materials according to established guidelines and regulations.
  • Utilize hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Perform basic tasks related to plumbing, carpentry, and painting.
  • Keep tools and equipment clean, lubricated, and in good repair.
  • Respond immediately to STAT (urgent) orders.
  • Proactively assist co-workers and contribute to a team environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission and vision of the hospital.
  • Complete all assigned education, training, and competency requirements by deadlines.
  • Maintain regular, punctual attendance and participate in department meetings.
  • Promote and follow a culture of safety; report all incidents by end of business day.
  • Adhere to Code of Conduct and uphold the Mission and Vision of the organization.
  • Comply with all relevant local, state, and federal laws and regulations (e.g., OSHA, TJC, CMS, HIPAA).
