About The Position

The Maintenance Department Leader is responsible for leading, coordinating, and supervising the maintenance team while actively performing hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairing pharmaceutical manufacturing equipment. This role includes the analysis of equipment performance, implementation of corrective and preventive actions, and ensuring optimal operational efficiency. Additionally, the position oversees the maintenance and upkeep of the facility and building systems, ensuring all equipment, utilities, and infrastructure operate safely, reliably, and in full compliance with GMP, safety, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Technical degree or training in mechanical, electrical, mechatronics engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in manufacturing environments.
  • Extensive hands-on experience in equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team coordination skills.
  • Problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), safety standards, and maintenance best practices.
  • Ability to combine people leadership with technical execution.
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritize production needs.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience leading or coordinating maintenance teams is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coordinate, and motivate the maintenance team to ensure effective execution of preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Assign tasks, prioritize work orders, and manage daily maintenance activities.
  • Ensure proper communication and coordination with Production, Quality, Engineering, and other departments.
  • Participate in hiring, training, coaching, and performance evaluation of maintenance personnel.
  • Perform hands-on troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of manufacturing, packaging, and utility equipment.
  • Execute and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance programs.
  • Ensure equipment availability to support production schedules.
  • Support facility installation, modification, and improvement projects.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with GMP, safety, and environmental regulations
  • Review and approve maintenance documentation, work orders, and logs.
  • Participate in deviation investigations, root cause analysis, and CAPA implementation related to equipment failures.
  • Ensure tools, spare parts, and maintenance activities do not pose contamination or cross-contamination risks.
  • Identify recurring equipment issues and propose technical and procedural improvements.
  • Support risk assessments and equipment reliability initiatives.
  • Promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement within the maintenance team.
