About The Position

The Maintenance Technician position is responsible for maintaining equipment, fixturing, and tooling for the plant, including forklifts, material handling equipment, air compressors, boilers, HVAC equipment, and any outside contracts associated with the maintenance of this equipment and any other equipment at the Lear facility. The working hours are from 2:30pm to 10:30pm with occasional overtime. This role is the second level in the Maintenance Skill Progression, distinguished from the Associate level by the performance of more difficult tasks and duties, and assisting higher-level staff in performing complex tasks. Employees at this level are expected to perform with the same independence of direction and judgment as the senior level, receiving immediate supervision from the Maintenance Team Leader or Senior Maintenance Technician(s).

Requirements

  • Prior work experience in maintenance activities in a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent mechanical and electrical abilities.
  • Strong knowledge of PLCs, programming, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Technical education applicable to maintenance.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • High School Diploma or GED.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic knowledge of Predictive Maintenance (Temperature, Vibration, and Oil).
  • Ability to read and understand electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics.
  • Basic knowledge of Instrumentation and Calibration.
  • Installation of 120/240/480V electrical wiring systems.
  • Installation of Industrial Electrical Control Panels.
  • Basic knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC) and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).
  • Basic knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical blueprints and perform tasks on machine tools (lathe and mill).

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance activities on automated lines, air compressors, vacuum equipment, boilers, forklifts, conveyors, HVAC equipment, plumbing, lighting, process equipment, in-line testers, OC3 testers, and tooling.
  • Develop and maintain preventive maintenance programs and data for sound maintenance management of all equipment, buildings, and grounds.
  • Collect data pertinent to maintaining all equipment.
  • Assist engineering and facilities management in managing outside contractors.
  • Have responsibility for project management of projects within the Maintenance Department.
  • Assist engineers in the set-up and de-bugging of new and modified equipment.
  • Set up various types of process equipment, like automated lines and in-line testers.
  • Ensure risk is minimized through safe maintenance procedures and good housekeeping.
  • Participate in team activities where maintenance input is required.
  • Assist engineering and facilities management in special projects.
  • Perform other duties as deemed necessary by facilities management.
