About The Position

The purpose of this job is to maintain equipment to reduce failure occurrences and to repair equipment in a safe and effective manner. The role involves completing daily preventive maintenance (PM) tasks, performing repairs on all equipment as needed, and diagnosing and troubleshooting equipment issues. Technicians are expected to provide data for correct repair parts, fill out part requests, install parts upon arrival, and inform production when repairs are complete. Daily documentation on work orders and communication with other technicians is essential. Additionally, the technician will monitor the water system, assist in training or mentoring other mechanics, and suggest continual improvements and cost-saving ideas. The role also requires investigating leaks or spills and adhering to corporate and departmental environmental quality and safety programs, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Other duties may be assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Trade School Degree or five years or more proven experience desired.
  • Forklift Certified.
  • Injection Molding Trade School Certificate.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Good math skills.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Communication skills.
  • Mechanical and electrical ability.
  • Ability to lift 80 lbs.
  • Ability to work at height up to 40 ft.
  • Ability to climb and work from a ladder up to 25 ft.
  • Ability to stand on feet for 8, 10, and 12 hours.

Nice To Haves

  • Good working knowledge of industrial technology.
  • Thorough understanding of company product, trade terminology, maintenance and repair operations, manufacturing processes, and machine/equipment operation.
  • Ability to diagnose problems for true root cause and implement effective countermeasures.

Responsibilities

  • Complete daily PM's per the PM Report, keeping past PM’s to zero.
  • Perform all repairs on all equipment as needed.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot all equipment.
  • Provide data for correct repair parts, fill out part requests, and install parts when they arrive.
  • Inform production when repairs are complete.
  • Complete and turn in documentation daily on work orders and daily sheets for proper documentation.
  • Communicate with off-going and on-coming technicians.
  • Monitor water system, including water levels, temperature, fans, pumps decks, chemical balance, and salt levels.
  • Assist and train or mentor other mechanics as needed.
  • Provide continual improvements suggestions and cost savings ideas.
  • Investigate all leaks or spills and correct as needed.
  • Follow Corporate and Departmental Environmental Quality and Safety Programs.
