About The Position

River Vista Behavioral Health sits along the bluffs overlooking the San Joaquin River, this brand new, 128-bed facility, will provide high-quality and advanced behavioral health services to residents and visitors in the Central Valley. The new hospital will employ more than 250 people, including clinicians, nurses, mental health technicians, support staff and administration. We are currently seeking a compassionate and hardworking MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN to be part of our Plant Operations Team. The Maintenance Worker performs a variety of tasks, including painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, test and inspections of physical plant equipment, preventive maintenance and various janitorial duties with minimal supervision.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred; two years of technical or trade school preferred.
  • Must have at least one (1) year experience in operating a variety of hand/power tools and equipment ensuring proper safety precautions.
  • In addition, must have at least one (1) year experience in the area of building maintenance, basic mechanical engineering, painting/wall repair, electrical, carpentry and plumbing.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must have complete knowledge of physical plant within two weeks of hire.
  • Knowledge of all general building maintenance.
  • Knowledge of basic mechanical engineering.
  • Knowledge of various hand/power tools and equipment.
  • Knowledge of risk and safety precautions applicable to all codes and OSHA regulations standards.
  • Knowledge of all code procedures.
  • Skill in organizing and prioritizing workloads to meet deadlines.
  • Skill in telephone etiquette and paging procedures.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze problems and situations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients and co-workers.

  • A strong knowledge of The Joint Commission, HCFA, OSHA regulations, and patient rights standards and all other applicable federal and state laws and regulations governing mental health care facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all tasks such as painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, preventive maintenance, HVAC and tests and inspections of the physical plant. (clean/change air filters/dispose of infectious/contaminated waste/maintain facility grounds/perform preventive maintenance, electrical test as well removal, installation and repair of all mechanical and electrical equipment under supervision of a supervisor)
  • Perform various janitorial duties.
  • Responsible for keeping tools and materials in good condition and in their proper location.
  • Responsible for taking necessary safety precautions when handling hand/power tools and equipment.
  • Take appropriate precautions ensuring proper lock out and tag out procedures are done when working on equipment.
  • Comply with established measures for infection control, OSHA regulations, and Safety/Risk Management Plans, policies and procedures.
  • Assist in assuring a safe and risk preventive environment.
  • Use time constructively and in an organized manner.
  • Adhere to facility, department, corporate, personnel and standard policies and procedures.
  • Attend all mandatory facility in-services and staff development activities as scheduled.
  • Adhere to facility standards concerning conduct, dress, attendance and punctuality.
  • Support facility-wide quality/performance improvement goals and objectives.
  • Maintain confidentiality of facility employees and patient information.
