Currently we have an opening for a On Call General Maintenance Mechanic working Monday through Friday from 8am to 4pm. Job Summary: The General Maintenance Mechanic assures the building and equipment remains in good repair. A candidate who is skilled in painting is preferred. Additionally, is responsible for maintaining the building and grounds in a clean and safe condition for residents and their visitors.

Requirements

  • Diploma or High School Equivalent
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must be able to pass a state required background & drug test
  • Must have a clean and valid Drivers License
  • Practical knowledge of maintenance and grounds-keeping procedures, tools and equipment

Nice To Haves

  • A candidate who is skilled in painting is preferred.
  • Technical Training degree or certification preferred
  • Preferable two (2) years mechanical maintenance experience in the Health Care setting

Responsibilities

  • Participate in Quality Assurance, reporting outcomes of actions to the Maintenance Director, attend departmental meetings and complete “In- Service” training programs within established deadlines as required.
  • Perform maintenance on building materials including, but not limited to, doors, locks, windows, roof, siding, carpet, drywall, vinyl floors, etc.
  • Patch and paint walls after damage or resident move-out
  • Perform maintenance on plumbing components including, but not limited to, toilets, faucets, showers, drains, etc.
  • Understand the water and sprinkler shutoff systems.
  • Perform repair of damaged or broken items
  • Remove snow and ice and spread melting material on sidewalks and parking areas on an as needed basis.
  • Perform maintenance on exterior grounds including, but not limited to, mowing grass, raking leaves, trimming and planting bushes, spreading mulch, etc.
  • Remove trash and refuse from the buildings and place in the dumpster and/or compactor
  • Perform light carpentry for changes and upgrades in administrative, resident apartment and/or common areas
  • Participate in fire drills, understand the operation of the Simplex Fire Alarm system as well as the Fire and Emergency Procedures
  • Safely perform light electrical work for the maintenance, repair and/or installation of lighting fixtures, receptacles, telephones, etc.
  • Maintain a safe work area in the resident apartments and common areas keeping in mind the risks of cords, ladders and sharp objects to senior citizens.
  • Assist in the movement of resident furniture and items of personal property for administrative reasons.
  • Accurately complete Work Orders for proper time and billing
