About the role Where you'll work Niagara Falls, NY location produces organic salts, including propionates and acetates, serving Pharmaceutical, Food, Feed and Technical Industries. With this long-standing and fully automated manufacturing site, Kerry offers world class quality products to a global market. Our products fill vital needs in a broad range of applications that are essential to everyday life including food preservation, antibiotic formulation, dialysis treatment, energy production and more. 400 47th St., Niagara Falls, NY 14304 $36.21, $39.06, $40.06 Shift/Working Hours 8-430 for the first 120 days then potentially going to a rotating 12-hour shift from 6am - 6pm for 2 weeks then 6pm-6am the next. 4 on 3 off then 3 on 4 off.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in an industrial maintenance environment required.
  • Mechanical repair, general welding, ability to use hand tools, hand-held power tools, and basic computer skills
  • Must have the ability to work alone and in close cooperation with production personnel. Capable of working through complex problems alone or with others to provide logical solutions
  • A Maintenance Tech Worker will be subject to working in areas of high noise level and in hazardous areas. Burn hazards may exist when working on steam powered equipment. High degree of mobility is necessary as job requires climbing, crawling, bending, and twisting. Must be comfortable working from elevated surfaces, including ladders & manlifts, sometimes at heights exceeding 20 feet above the floor. Vessel entry and working in confined spaces may be required. Exposure to chemicals can periodically occur. Proper PPE is provided to mitigate the impact of any on-the-job hazards, consistent with OSHA and Kerry HSE requirements.
  • The ability to work outside for periods of time in temperatures varying from below zero to above 100°F is also required. The ability to apply force to lift heavy equipment and operate wrenches, hammers, pry bars, etc. and apply sufficient force to tighten large nuts and bolts is also required. The ability to regularly lift 25 lbs is required as well as the ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in a food manufacturing facility preferred.
  • Experience troubleshooting and resolving more complex maintenance issues without direct oversight preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for ensuring equipment is available and online to meet production goals
  • Troubleshoot and make repairs to existing plant equipment, install new equipment, and building maintenance as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Maintain a positive attitude amidst unplanned events and a willingness to be flexible with work volume and type.
  • Willingness to contribute to the greater plant as a liaison to safety, quality, engineering, or production programs.
  • Provide support to plant operations and other teams on their assigned shift to ensure equipment is available as needed for production
  • Execute urgent work orders and special projects.
  • Work with various hand tools, power tools, welders and cutting equipment to repair plant equipment
  • Perform sanitary and non-sanitary welding and pipe fitting, per skill level
  • Repair, assembly and installation of sanitary and utility service valves
  • Where applicable, assist in repair refrigeration and air conditioning equipment; work with ammonia and freon with proper licensed Technicians. Perform daily PMs as assigned
  • Perform rotating equipment PMs and repairs and checks by scheduled due date, including replacement of mechanical seals, impellers, and bearings
  • Check and monitor cooling tower chemical/oil levels, pumps and systems.
  • Ability to proficiently use Kerry Systems; to include SAP, CMMS and MySuccess
  • Operate forklift and aerial lifts
  • Help as required in the parts storeroom
  • Contribute to plant-wide programs in safety, quality, engineering, or production
  • May periodically be asked to serve as “on call” outside of standard scheduled hours to support critical work. During on call times, must be available via phone and to come on site as needed
