About The Position

Prepares and performs minor preventive maintenance on a variety of uncomplicated equipment. Performs a variety of duties in and around buildings and grounds. Assists maintenance engineer and mechanics with their tasks.

Requirements

  • One to three years’ experience in the building trades; or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • C,Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Special Knowledge: Knowledge of tools utilized to perform the described duties and the safety procedures and devises required when operating/using these tools.
  • Maintain a valid Kansas Drivers License

Responsibilities

  • General maintenance of facilities, and grounds including mowing and trimming.
  • Generate, and complete work orders in computer program.
  • Installs items such as light fixtures, toilets, faucets, and door locks.
  • Replaces damaged ceiling tile, and floor tile.
  • Check boilers daily and complete logs and perform repairs as needed.
  • Inspect and clean debris from roof.
  • Repair and maintain plumbing by replacing worn parts in leaky faucets, mending burst/leaking pipes and opening clogged drains.
  • Install and repair plumbing fixtures such as sinks, faucets and commodes.
  • Assist engineers or mechanics in conducting fire drills, sprinklers tests, and check fire doors.
  • Inspect and repair fire walls to maintain fire ratings.
  • Follows appropriate safety and infection control procedures when working in patient areas.
  • Cleans snow ice and debris from sidewalks.
  • Perform annual electrical test on all outlets. Replace as needed.
  • Attends in-service training programs.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding residents, families, staff, and organization.
  • Develop and maintain a professional demeanor and rapport with residents, visitors, and staff.
  • Uses the proper protective clothing/devices when performing work.
  • Cleans equipment/tools and performs preventive maintenance per maintenance schedules or manufactures recommendations.
  • Follow the CHS Code of Conduct and work within the personnel and department-based policies.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
