The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, and general repair as needed to maintain properties in good condition. This position is non-exempt and reports to the Community Manager. The effective date of this position is May 2015, with a salary range of $20.41 to $26.56 per hour.

  • Complete maintenance and repair projects as assigned.
  • Provide work direction to temporary maintenance staff, volunteers, and community service workers.
  • Perform unit turnover preparation repair and maintenance.
  • Maintain lawns and landscaping, where applicable.
  • Maintain complete records of maintenance, mileage, costs, and repairs.
  • Report unsafe or hazardous conditions to staff.
  • Respond to emergency situations and take appropriate action.
  • Conduct annual property inspections for budgeting purposes.
  • Contact tenants for scheduling repairs.
  • Be 'On-Call' as per established guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean work area.
  • Adhere to organizational policies on non-discrimination.
  • Practice cultural humility when interacting with co-workers and clients of diverse ethnic, religious, political, and cultural backgrounds and sexual or gender identities.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience or equivalent combined education and experience.
  • Prefer experience in a property management setting.
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance and repair practices and techniques.
  • Strong working knowledge of current repair and maintenance techniques and procedures.
  • Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools.
  • Knowledge of building codes and basic landlord/tenant and fair housing laws.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Working knowledge of smartphone technology for email, calendar phone calls, and text.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English.
  • Basic math skills.
