About The Position

Mechanical Maintenance Technician (Millwright) Summary: Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, this position will be responsible for the inspection, operation, or testing of machinery or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions. Perform routine maintenance, such as inspecting drives, motors, or belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, or doing other preventive maintenance actions. Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary. Manage small projects, coordinate installations and down day work assignments and carry out initiatives in support of the Mill objectives. Collaborate with team members to ensure tasks are completed in a safe, timely and cost efficient manner. This position will work in 12 hour rotating shifts in a 24/7 operation.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in an industrial manufacturing setting.
  • Maintenance Technician or Technologist diploma or Certified Industrial Maintenance Millwright.
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong work ethic and superior trouble shooting skill.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems within the manufacturing process.
  • A proactive individual with a strong preventative maintenance approach.
  • Demonstrate a strong organizational skills with planning on a daily basis.
  • Constant walking and stair climbing.
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed.
  • Results driven with a proven problem solving ability.

Responsibilities

  • Promotes, adheres to, and contributes to plant safety programs and ensures compliance with best maintenance practices (BMP’s).
  • Provide crafts specialist support to Team Members to help achieve the business plan.
  • Write purchase requisitions and work orders using CMMS.
  • Make time and attendance entries into UltiPro.
  • Attend and complete required training.
  • Pipe and plumb hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Repair, install, modify, replace and align machinery.
  • Perform precision measurements by use of various measurement devices such as calipers, dial indicators and micrometers.
  • Reads and interprets blue prints and layout work.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems and components
  • Operate engine lathe to grind, file, and turn machine parts to dimensional specifications.
  • Conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings.
  • Analyze breakdowns of equipment and plans details of working approach to determine material and/or replacement needs and follows a practical approach to effect repairs.
  • Answer trouble calls, performs scheduled and non-scheduled inspections, adjustments, repairs, etc., in accordance with diagram or drawing specifications, manuals or other instructions.
  • Analyze all types of hydraulic and pneumatic circuits, diagrams or drawings as required to install, repair, adjust, calibrate, construct, modify or service all types of mechanical system and devices.
  • Analyze comprehensive schematics, sketches, and drawings related to the maintenance and repair of all types of mechanical systems and devices.
  • Properly containerizes, labels, and transports hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
  • Other duties as may be assigned or required to achieve business goals and objectives.
