About The Position

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor or Production Manager, the Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in keeping plant equipment and facilities operating safely, reliably, and efficiently. This role supports the Asset Management and Maintenance Program by performing preventative maintenance, responding to equipment issues, and documenting plans and results. The Maintenance Technician directly contributes to operational reliability, product quality, and Mattr’s goals of zero accidents, zero defects, and zero breakdowns—helping reduce process variation and improve overall manufacturing performance.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Minimum 3 years of maintenance or related experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • General knowledge of building and equipment maintenance, including mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, and basic electrical systems.
  • Ability to perform basic equipment repairs and troubleshoot mechanical issues using wiring diagrams and equipment manuals.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Ability to work variable hours, including shift work, overtime, and weekends as required.
  • Physically capable of performing manual work, including lifting, bending, kneeling, standing for extended periods, working at heights, and working in confined spaces.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Millwright or welder preferred; additional certifications such as forklift, fall protection, or aerial lift are assets.

Responsibilities

  • Perform required and preventative maintenance on plant equipment and facilities to ensure safe and reliable operation.
  • Review daily work plans with the Maintenance Supervisor and participate in maintenance meetings to address work orders, safety concerns, training needs, and parts requirements.
  • Inspect, service, and repair tagged‑out equipment, including rebuilding pumps, tools, and related components as needed.
  • Monitor work orders and prioritize tasks to meet maintenance schedules and production needs.
  • Support production by assisting with equipment adjustments and repairs to ensure quality output.
  • Maintain and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, plumbing, compressed air, heating, and cooling systems throughout the facility.
  • Assist with maintenance or coordination of fire protection systems, static electricity arresters, and fire doors.
  • Accurately document maintenance activities using logs, process sheets, and maintenance records.
  • Identify hazards, near misses, and safety concerns, and enter required safety documentation in accordance with company and HSE requirements.
  • Work safely with contractors, providing guidance and ensuring compliance with company safety policies.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and support overall housekeeping standards.
  • Perform other related duties as required to support plant operations.
