About The Position

Performs a variety of maintenance duties associated with the repair and upkeep of club facilities. May specialize in one or more maintenance areas such as plumbing, electrical, air conditioning, carpentry, masonry, welding and painting. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following; Monitors and maintains air conditioning and heating equipment including chillers, fans, belts, filters, motors and pumps. Monitors computer controls for A/C and heating system. Monitors and maintains spa equipment including steam rooms, saunas, whirlpools and swimming pools. Maintains temperatures at appropriate levels. Monitors and maintains laundry, kitchen and ice making equipment and performs routine inspections of equipment throughout the club property. Paints, plasters, installs drywall, stucco, wood framing and other carpentry tasks, and metal framing. Responds to alarms as necessary. Performs a variety of plumbing, masonry and electrical duties. Changes light bulbs, ballasts and light fixtures. Cleans and maintains equipment as necessary. Excavates, digs trenches and lays pipes when necessary. Maintains guardhouses and comfort stations. Communicates with members, co-workers, management and the general public in a courteous and professional manner. Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions. Exhibits and maintains a professional demeanor to reflect a positive image of The Polo Club. Performs other duties as assigned by the Facilities Maintenance Manager.

Requirements

  • Advanced diagnostics skills.
  • Requires knowledge and skills in one or more maintenance trades such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, masonry, painting, wallpapering, welding, flooring and tiling and carpentry.
  • Requires proficiency in the use of hand tools and power tools.
  • Requires the ability to plan and make repairs in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Requires knowledge in safety and accident avoidance.
  • Requires good manual dexterity and the ability to lift and carry up to 60 pounds.
  • Must be available to report to work promptly following any major weather or similar event.
  • Ability to work long and unusual hours including weekends and holidays when necessary.
  • Ability to verbally communicate well in English and in writing.
  • Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions in English.
  • Ability to interact professionally and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, co-workers and members.
  • Must be able to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment.
  • One year certificate from college or technical school; and/or a minimum of four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to communicate well in English. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of energy management and systems.
  • Requires a valid Florida driver’s license and a good driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • EPA certification preferred.
