About The Position

The Maintenance Technician I is responsible for the overall maintenance of structures and grounds of the Osage Nation. The Maintenance Tech I must perform miscellaneous tasks requiring hand labor for the development and maintenance of tribal lands and structures. Responsible for overall maintenance, plumbing, and electrical components of Tribal buildings.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in any field preferred; High school diploma or GED required
  • Must have 2 years of maintenance and/or construction experience
  • Mechanical, electrical and plumbing training certifications preferred
  • Must be able to work all hours/shifts as needed
  • Must possess knowledge and ability to safely operate tractors, brush hog, backhoe, forklift and all other equipment used by the maintenance staff
  • Must be able lift at least 75 lbs. and drag or pull at least 100 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand, lift, bend and climb ladders
  • Requires a high level of personal integrity and ethics
  • Requires a high level of problem solving skills
  • Requires willingness and ability to learn new skills, including travel to conferences and training sessions
  • Requires good interpersonal communication and team work skills
  • Must maintain a professional attitude and appearance that positively represents the Nation
  • Must maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Requires ability to use Microsoft Office Suite programs
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check
  • Must be able to pass drug/alcohol testing
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment and be able to meet deadlines
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record – may be required to drive GSA or tribal vehicle

Responsibilities

  • Adheres to all applicable safety rules and regulations
  • Troubleshoots and takes corrective action for all mechanical, electrical and plumbing issues
  • Supervises Maintenance Workers during assigned tasks
  • Performs routine carpentry work (including framing, drywall installation and bedding, painting and etc.)
  • Performs all work in maintaining grounds and facilities of the Osage Nation (including removal of trash/debris, mowing, weed eating, edging, landscaping. Also including removal of snow and ice from stairs, walks and driveways)
  • Performs routine and scheduled maintenance of all buildings
  • Responsible for all general maintenance of equipment, hand operated and motorized
  • Operates hand and power tools on a regular basis
  • Assists in loading and unloading trucks and moving office furniture and equipment
  • Other duties as assigned by the Tribal Works Manager
