About The Position

Perform electrical and instrumentation related work assignments for the Maintenance Department based on job requests from the Production Department.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or the equivalent.
  • Five years minimum field experience in Instrument/Electrical Field in the petrochemical industry.
  • Two-year college degree/approved apprenticeship strongly preferred.
  • Willingness to work overtime, shift schedules and assist other craft discipline in performing a repair task.

Responsibilities

  • Repair and inspect 480V and below electrical wiring and systems.
  • Remove and install electrical fuses on 480 volt and below power transmission equipment and motor starter overload devices.
  • Remove and install air supply solenoids on control valves.
  • Connect/disconnect 480-volt starters, electrical wire to terminals on pumps, motor operated valves, light fixtures and wall switches.
  • Perform loop checks for process field instrumentation.
  • Locate and correct electrical problems on equipment such as actuator valves, solenoids, electrical control circuits and control panels.
  • Take amp readings for electrical motors and high/low voltage power supplies to equipment.
  • Remove, calibrate and install transmitters such as pressure, flow, temperature, level and other instrumentation.
  • Perform calibration of instruments such as emergency shutdown valves, process control valves, etc.
  • Remove and install electrical breakers, relays, etc.
  • Make voltage tests on instrumentation such as transmitters and controllers.
  • Perform preventative maintenance inspections on electrical systems and equipment.
  • Disassemble repairs and reassemble automatic valve actuators.
  • Locate and correct problems with instrumentation such as DCS, panel switches, control valves, transmitters, etc.
  • Remove, install and replace electrical lighting and fixtures.
  • Order supplies, spare parts and material from the Warehouse via SAP.
  • Make splices to electrical wiring such as feeder cables, motor leads, control wires, etc.
  • Assist in training of others.
  • Read and understand electrical drawings and schematics.
  • Have a general understanding of motor controls.
  • Understand the basics of process instrumentation.
  • Perform any other tasks as requested by supervision.
  • Perform duties in a manner that protects personal safety as well as the safety of all personnel on site.
  • Report Safety, Health or Environmental incidents or issues to management.
  • Attend Monthly Safety Meetings to help prevent off site and job accidents.
