About The Position

Responsible for maintaining any and all of the Tribally owned lands and buildings. The Temporary Maintenance Tech I must be capable of working alone or with other staff members, following written and verbal instructions. In addition, the person fulfilling this role must have a working knowledge of the construction trades, possesses and knows how to use personal tools / operate related equipment safely, while also understanding the Tribe's fiscal and paperwork system.

Requirements

  • Must possess and be able to use hand and power tools, as needed.
  • Must be a self-starter, well organized, and willing to learn new skills.
  • Must possess valid driver's license, good driving record, and be insurable by the Tribe's insurance carrier.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening test and be willing to submit to a criminal background check.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and to perform duties with industry, reliability, integrity, and initiative.
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively without close supervision.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods; stoop, kneel and crouch to pick up or move objects, office equipment, furniture, or miscellaneous equipment; physical ability to lift and carry objects ranging from 50-75 pounds without assistance; physical ability to lift and move heavier objects with assistance; normal manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination; corrected vision and hearing to normal range; good verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Must be responsible for good working environment and communications with; Supervisor, co-workers, other staff, and general public.
  • Must be a "troubleshooter" as needed.
  • Must be responsible for maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Must be responsible for day to day, short term work schedules and needed adjustments.
  • Must understand and engage with internal paperwork system, within related processes.
  • Must understand and adhere to the internal purchase order system, within related processes.
  • Must compile comprehensive materials lists for specific projects.
  • Must be responsible for Tribally owned tools, vehicles and equipment.
  • Must understand and implement basic program needs and goals.
  • Adheres to Tribe's and Program's confidentiality and personnel policies.
  • Be available for local and out of the area travel as required for job related training and various activities.
  • Attends all required meetings, trainings and functions.
  • Be polite and maintain a priority system in accepting other job-related duties, as assigned.
  • Inspect all Karuk Tribe facilities, recommend and/or perform maintenance as needed.
  • Performs duties and tasks related to the scheduled maintenance program and follow-up services as needed.
