The Maintenance Support Tech I-III position at TxDOT's Leon County Maintenance Office in Buffalo, TX, is responsible for providing essential administrative support to ensure the smooth operation of the office. This role involves handling phone calls, managing meetings, assisting with employee onboarding, procurement, data entry, and maintaining records. The ideal candidate will demonstrate effective communication skills and professionalism while interacting with the public, coworkers, and local government stakeholders. The position may vary in level (I, II, or III) based on the applicant's qualifications and business needs.

  • Answer the telephone, evaluate requests, answer questions, route messages, and serve as receptionist or front desk assistant.
  • Assist in preparing monthly and final maintenance contract estimates.
  • Conduct monthly spot inventories, verify inventory findings, and reconcile with Business Services on adjustments needed.
  • Maintain and update office files/records/logs and various automated systems in support of personnel, finance, budgeting, maintenance, inventory, contracts, purchasing, travel information, and permitting activities.
  • Monitor and assist with data entry for maintenance contract record keeping.
  • Review, prepare, and/or negotiate applicable program purchases for services, office materials, supplies, tools, and/or equipment and monitor contracts.
  • Maintain materials inventory (for Tech II).
  • Coordinate with district personnel for annual inventory of supplies, stockpiles, and minor equipment (for Tech III).
  • High School Graduate or equivalent in general education.
  • 3 years of experience in administrative or clerical support, customer service, or related experience.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Experience in office management practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of inventory/stock control procedures.
  • Familiarity with automated record-keeping methods and applicable computer systems and applications.
