About The Position

The Maintenance Supervisor at Hood Industries, Inc. is responsible for overseeing the maintenance staff at the Beaumont, Mississippi plywood facility. This role involves coordinating maintenance activities, diagnosing equipment failures, and ensuring that all equipment is maintained to maximize uptime, quality, and productivity. The supervisor will foster a culture of safety and efficiency while managing preventative and predictive maintenance strategies.

Requirements

  • 5+ years related maintenance experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position.
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience.
  • Associate degree or vocational certification is a plus.
  • Willing and able to work a flexible schedule that could include some holidays or weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Champion a culture of reliability within the maintenance department by fostering a data-driven approach to decision making and encouraging proactive maintenance strategies.
  • Supervise and coach maintenance team to ensure quality operational repairs and preventative maintenance services; develop staff and self to ensure professional growth.
  • Schedule and assign all tasks required to meet the preventative/predictive maintenance needs of the facility.
  • Manage inventory of spare parts and critical spares according to site business plan and engage with key suppliers to optimize cost savings opportunities for the department.
  • Ensure the safety of all employees and contractors by supporting corporate safety programs, developing SOPs, identifying and eliminating hazards, and enforcing all safety policies.
  • Communicate regularly with team and management to ensure good two-way communication concerning mechanical maintenance issues.
  • Review the operation of plant equipment and systems constantly to minimize unplanned downtime, anticipate and solve problems in a timely manner, and identify opportunities for improvement through root cause analysis.
  • Understand and remain aware of monthly, weekly, and daily numbers regarding efficiency, productivity, downtime, quality, and safety.
  • Implement projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs.
  • Lead safety, health, and environmental policies and practices within the team, responding to and leading repair and modification requests from the Safety Committee and/or EH&S Manager.
  • Maintain all maintenance related compliance documentation.
  • May also have additional responsibilities related to the operations of the plant, as assigned.
