About The Position

Reporting to the Facility Manager, the Maintenance Supervisor provides overall functional leadership and direction to the maintenance team, ensuring that all maintenance activities are planned, budgeted, and executed safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively to achieve reliable and optimal plant operations. This individual will be a proven leader with the ability to deliver vision and leadership that drives daily, yearly, and long-term asset reliability goals through the consistent application of maintenance best practices site-wide. The Maintenance Supervisor will also foster a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and operational excellence, work collaboratively across multiple functions, and maintain strong connections with regional and corporate maintenance & reliability (M&R) and technical groups.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7-10 years of relevant maintenance experience, ideally in manufacturing, power plants, chemical processing, or industrial environments; Waste-to-Energy experience preferred.
  • Proven supervisory/managerial experience leading maintenance teams.
  • Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering degree preferred, but not required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Strong knowledge of power plant equipment, including boilers, gas and steam turbines, rotating machinery, electrical and instrumentation systems.
  • Skilled in maintenance management systems (ALM, MMM, Experion, PeopleSoft), Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and data-driven reporting.
  • Thorough understanding of work management processes, preventive maintenance, reliability, mechanical integrity, and quality assurance practices.
  • Familiarity with budgeting and financial management related to maintenance.
  • Knowledgeable in applicable safety, environmental, and labor laws and regulations.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with cross-functional teams and external professional organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify root causes of failures and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience writing maintenance procedures, contractor scopes, and purchase requisitions.
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, competitive, and fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Waste-to-Energy experience preferred.
  • Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering degree preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a Safety Leader, ensuring all maintenance work is conducted with the highest safety and environmental standards, complying with company policies and federal, state, and local regulations, including NERC, NFPA, and National Electric Code.
  • Lead and coordinate day-to-day maintenance activities, driving improvements in maintenance processes, system utilization (ALM, MMM, Experion, etc.), and the advancement of preventive and predictive maintenance and reliability programs.
  • Own and manage the site's Long-Term Maintenance Plan (LTMP), and oversee outage planning and execution, ensuring outage scopes, schedules, and budgets are met.
  • Provide direct supervision and leadership to a multi-disciplinary maintenance team, including Mechanics, Welders, Electrical & Instrumentation Technicians, and Storekeepers.
  • Manage the maintenance work order system, including backlog monitoring, scheduling, prioritization, and quality assurance.
  • Plan and coordinate maintenance to maximize plant availability, including major scheduled and unscheduled outages on boilers, turbines, and associated plant equipment.
  • Oversee spare parts inventory management and warehouse operations to maintain optimal stock levels and minimize downtime.
  • Develop and manage maintenance budgets, forecasts, and P&L responsibilities, identifying cost-saving opportunities and mitigating financial risks.
  • Collaborate closely with Procurement on strategic sourcing initiatives and contractor management, including writing scopes of work and bid packages.
  • Develop, implement, and update maintenance procedures, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and support regulatory compliance.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives, utilizing Lean, 5S, Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and other reliability tools to improve maintenance efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Communicate effectively with operators, engineers, quality control, and leadership teams to resolve maintenance issues and improve equipment reliability.
  • Actively participate in human resources activities, including recruitment, performance management, coaching, and employee development.
  • Be available for rotating shifts, weekends, extended hours, and on-call support as required, especially during critical outages.
