About The Position

As a Maintenance Supervisor at Atlas Tube at Zekelman Industries, Kansas City, MO, this role plays a key part in ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safety of all plant equipment. Reporting to the Department Manager, this hands-on leadership position oversees the maintenance team, coordinates preventive maintenance programs, troubleshoots machinery issues, and supports continuous improvement across plant operations. This role is ideal for an experienced maintenance professional who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and enjoys leading teams while solving complex technical challenges.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably in steel manufacturing or heavy industry
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience leading a maintenance team
  • Associate degree or technical certification in industrial maintenance, mechanical engineering, or a related field, preferred; equivalent experience considered
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • Welding and fabrication experience, preferred
  • Proven ability to diagnose complex mechanical and electrical issues and implement effective solutions
  • Familiarity with CMMS systems and Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong commitment to safety with knowledge of OSHA standards and industrial safety best practices
  • Perform work in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Stand, walk, climb, bend, stoop, push, and pull as required
  • Lift and move materials and equipment as necessary to support maintenance activities
  • Meet additional physical requirements as needed for the role

Nice To Haves

  • Welding and fabrication experience

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, train, and mentor maintenance technicians to support efficient daily operations
  • Oversee and perform troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of plant equipment, including mills, welders, cutting systems, and material handling equipment
  • Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs to reduce downtime and extend equipment life
  • Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company policies
  • Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns and production disruptions, coordinating emergency repairs as needed
  • Monitor spare parts inventory and coordinate procurement of required components
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance reliability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness
  • Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, equipment history, and compliance records
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to support seamless operations and continuous improvement initiatives
