About The Position

Now hiring a Maintenance Supervisor to join our team at Abraxas Academy in Morgantown, PA. Here, you will help at-risk adolescents BUILD BETTER FUTURES. Abraxas Academy is located minutes off of Exit 298 of the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Berks County and provides detention and treatment services for court committed youth. The position maintains and repairs physical structures, vehicles, and mechanical systems of the facility and adjacent grounds through the use of proper maintenance methods and materials.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED and minimum fours years related general maintenance experience.
  • At least twenty-one (21) years of age.
  • Criminal clearances (Act 33 and 34, specific State & child clearances and, if necessary, FBI).
  • Non-communicable diseases physical exam.
  • Valid driver's license from employee’s state of residence.
  • Valid registered vehicle insurance.
  • Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
  • Must pass a drug test and both federal and state background checks!

Responsibilities

  • Performs general maintenance such as making repairs to buildings, vehicles, and equipment.
  • Maintains records of completed work, purchases, work orders, supplies, and time schedules.
  • Asses need and advise appropriate manager of non-routine or major repairs or problems.
  • Responsible for the timely documentation of all maintenance issues.
  • Prepare a monthly schedule to determine whether work to be completed.
  • Monitors projects through completion by providing regular updates to appropriate supervisor.
  • Inspects all fire equipment monthly and records observations.
  • Maintains working knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations as they relate to the maintenance industry.
  • Works with all types of building trades equipment (various saws, scaffolding, ladders, hand tools and power equipment) and possesses the necessary skills required to operate these tools and equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Ability to work with all types of piping (PVC, copper, black iron, etc.) and the necessary tools required by each type.
  • Ability to work with various electrical voltages (120, 208, 12, 277) in the various phases (single and three phase).
  • Available on call after hours for non-emergency and emergency maintenance situations.
  • Supports the Abraxas philosophy and mission and promotes the Seven Key Principles of care.
