About The Position

The Maintenance Supervisor oversees maintenance and repair work conducted throughout the Rahway site, with a focus on facilities and utilities systems and equipment. Trades supervised are pipefitters, millwrights, electricians, instrument technicians and HVAC technicians. The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the safe, quality and on-time completion of maintenance activities onsite. The Supervisor manages trades attendance, distributes scheduled workorders to team crafts, writes and signs work permits, supports energy isolation / equipment clearance / lockout/tagout activities, tracks workorder progress and ensures craft compliance in completing workorder documentation in computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). Work in a fast-paced environment to balance workload against company priorities. - Responsible for performance, behavior and safety/training compliance of trades team, working in a union environment. Work with Union timekeeper for managing trades overtime - Take ownership of covered areas, proactively identifying problems, developing solutions, and driving efforts to completion. Work with planners to identify / specify equipment, develop repair plans, ensure required parts and tools are available to complete jobs, and verify work completion per site/company standards - Interface with customers to correctly and with a sense of urgency to characterize problems, develop and implement solutions, and communicate progress/status back to customers. - Coordinate with other trades/areas supervisors when support is needed or when work needs to be transferred between areas. - Complete workorder documentation and closeout, including workorders requiring strict GMP procedure requirements - 2nd shift supervisor will lead a team supporting the entire site, and so will need to develop a working knowledge of many areas

Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent. Vocation or technical school certification desired.
  • 5-10 years of experience in applicable trade (pipefitting/plumbing, electrical, millwright, HVAC) and/or supervising trades in an industrial environment.
  • Must be able to adequately perform required job functions. This includes being able to lift, bend, and move in such a way as to perform job tasks in a safe and approved manner. Must be able to operate required hand/power tools and equipment required by this trade in a safe and approved manner.
