About The Position

As a Maintenance Supervisor at Wheatland Tube, a division of Zekelman Industries, you will oversee the maintenance team and ensure the reliability, efficiency, and safety of all plant equipment. Reporting to the Department Manager, this hands-on role is responsible for coordinating preventive maintenance programs, troubleshooting machinery issues, and leading a team of skilled maintenance technicians to support safe and efficient plant operations. This role is onsite and located in Rochelle, IL. Shift: Saturday - Monday 6PM - 6AM

Requirements

  • 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably in steel manufacturing or heavy industry.
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience leading a maintenance team.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems; welding and fabrication experience a plus.
  • Associate degree or technical certification in industrial maintenance, mechanical engineering, or a related field; equivalent work experience considered.
  • Proven ability to diagnose complex mechanical and electrical issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Familiarity with CMMS systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA safety standards and industrial safety best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, train, and mentor maintenance technicians to ensure efficient daily operations.
  • Oversee and participate in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining plant machinery, including mills, welders, cutting systems, and material handling equipment.
  • Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs to reduce downtime and improve equipment longevity.
  • Enforce safety protocols and regulatory compliance, ensuring OSHA and Company policies are followed.
  • Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns and production disruptions, coordinating emergency repairs as needed.
  • Monitor spare parts inventory and coordinate procurement of necessary components.
  • Identify and implement improvements to enhance reliability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness of maintenance processes.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment history, and compliance documentation.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to support seamless operations and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Leads and promotes healthy and safe work practices as required by regulatory agencies and Company policy.
