Supervision of the day-to-day maintenance functions and personnel, including scheduling of labor to meet plant and equipment requirements, and assigning responsibilities and tasks. Provide support by troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, training, and sharing of information with other maintenance personnel. Actively participate with Operations in plant improvement initiatives. Ensure all mechanical, electrical, electronic, pneumatic and structural repair and improvements are performed to industry and Saputo standards. Evaluate Maintenance personnel skills and abilities and establish a training program for development within the Department. Coach and develop maintenance employees to achieve continuous improvement in performance levels. Advise the Maintenance Manager, Plant Manager, Department Managers and Supervisors on equipment issues and their impact on production output. Ensure that all utilities (i.e. refrigeration, electrical, steam, compressed air systems, etc.) are in proper working order to support production. Troubleshoot machinery and process systems in the event of breakdowns. Coordinate with production supervision downtime windows for PM and repair work. Maintain current technical documentation relative to PLC’s, instrumentation and equipment (i.e. PLC ladder logic, blueprints, manuals, SOPs, maintenance procedures, preventative maintenance, inventory control and parts purchasing). Maintain awareness and monitor costs relative to the maintenance operation. Monitor the work area to ensure a safe environment is maintained and all plant safety rules are followed. Assist the Maintenance Manager in accomplishing department goals by promoting and driving the goals with all members of the department

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field, preferred, and/or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 5-8 years of experience in the field of industrial automation; Dairy, Food, and/or Beverage industry experience preferred; and supervision experience required.
  • Knowledge of Allen-Bradley components, Bosch equipment is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of refrigeration, PLCs, HMI’s, electrical, pneumatics, hydraulics and packaging equipment.
  • Programming experience, required.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • MP2 and SAP helpful.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and analyze mechanical/electrical/process control system functions, in order to determine the most efficient method of resolving malfunctions.
  • Ability to lead, coach and train the Maintenance team in order to develop the necessary technical skills and knowledge to support operations relative to equipment reliability.
  • Ability to evaluate production processes, in order to determine the most efficient method of accomplishing operational goals.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, primarily 1st shift hours. Weekends will be as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Dairy, Food, and/or Beverage industry experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Allen-Bradley components, Bosch equipment is preferred.
  • MP2 and SAP helpful.
