About The Position

The Maintenance Supervisor is a key role on the Pet Supplies Plus operations team offering the opportunity to launch a rewarding career in Supply Chain Operations at Pet Supplies Plus. Maintenance Supervisors will spend 60 to 70 percent of their time performing hands-on repairs/maintenance work. The remaining time will be spent supervising the work of their associates and outside contractors and performing general management functions.

Requirements

  • Highly motivated and capable to address issues with a strong sense of urgency
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to report and recommend solutions to challenges
  • 3-5 years of conveyor-systems experience within a distribution center
  • Strong knowledge of building codes, trade standards, and general practices within the maintenance field
  • Strong knowledge of electricity, mechanical, construction, plumbing and HVAC
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisor experience
  • Minimum 2 years of formal education in desired/related field
  • Proficient in Microsoft office programs
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to transport or move up to 50 pounds variable distances; the mobility and flexibility to use ladders to access heights more than eight to nine feet; and the ability to personally perform general maintenance repair tasks without endangering themselves or fellow team members
  • Requires frequent bending and/or stooping to access equipment and machinery necessary when assisting with or performing tasks

Responsibilities

  • Manage a high-quality maintenance team through implementation of effective recruitment, training, motivation, and development programs
  • Develop, counsel, motivate and resolve team member relations issues. Provide a good working atmosphere
  • Coordinate with the Managers and Supervisors to establish priorities and schedule the workload to satisfy production needs
  • Coordinate with local contractors and vendors for equipment and services as required
  • Order parts and equipment and obtain services for repair and maintenance of the facility’s equipment
  • Prioritize and assign service requests to maintenance team. Monitor daily completion of service requests and follow up on any outstanding items. Assist in the completion of service requests as necessary
  • Inspect grounds and building daily to minimize liability concerns and to always ensure excellent curb appeal
  • Maintain a preventative maintenance program that extends the life of the facility while minimizing future repairs
  • Identify and implement energy-saving measures that promotes conservation
  • Manage maintenance supply inventory while adhering to budget guidelines
  • Maintain well-organized and properly stocked maintenance shop while adhering to safety standards and OSHA guidelines
  • Responsible for key control program
  • Schedule and direct workers in performance of all maintenance/repairs within budgeted guidelines
  • Direct workers in performance of scheduled maintenance on all equipment based on the manufacturer’s recommendations and operating manuals
  • Maintain accurate records at all times
  • Assist Maintenance Manager with conducting performance appraisals for maintenance/facility team
